Game console sales in Russia increased by 70% in the January-April 2024 period compared to the same period of the previous year. In this respect report Izvestia with reference to data from M.Video-Eldorado.
Total console sales have reached 580 thousand units since the beginning of the year. M.Video-Eldorado predicts that if current growth rates are maintained, its sales this year may exceed 40 billion rubles, which will be a record figure in recent years. For example, last year the maximum market volume was 24 billion rubles.
The most popular games of 2024 include GTA V Premium Edition, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Mortal Kombat 11. Experts attribute the increase in demand for game consoles to the decrease in the prices of the devices, the variety of models and their availability in the market.
According to Eldar Murtazin, a leading analyst at Mobile Research Group, there is a growing demand in Russia not only for game consoles, but also for other electronics and household appliances: smartphones, tablets, TVs and others. He explains this by the fact that many goods have become more affordable for Russians due to rising wages in some sectors of the Russian economy.
