An engineer named Hazel broke a new record by keeping 7,470 tabs in the Firefox browser on a Mac computer for two years. In this respect reports PC Mag portal with a link to the girl’s publication on social networks.
After two years, the browser reset all its tabs, but Hazel managed to restore them using Firefox’s profile cache. It is stated that it takes less than a minute to completely restart the session. In her comment on social media site X, she expressed her relief, saying that she felt like a lost part of herself had returned.
Hazel also shared that her motivation for keeping so many tabs comes from nostalgia: she likes to revisit her activities and interests to remember them, comparing them to time travel.
It also turned out that an excessive number of tabs does not have a negative effect on computer performance. Hazel noted that Firefox manages memory efficiently, loading site content only when the relevant tab is activated, which can significantly save system resources. A profile cache with 7470 tabs takes up only 70 MB.
