Editors of the Saratov agency “Svobodnye Novosti” reported that their website was blocked in the Russian Federation. As editor-in-chief Maria Aleksashina told socialbites.ca, the publication’s website is still inaccessible and the reason for the blocking is unknown. According to him, the regional department of Roskomnadzor learned personally from journalists that the site was blocked and noted that they were not interested in such problems.
“We contacted the regional department of Roskomnadzor, they told us that they were not interested in such matters and did not know at all that we were blocked. They learned this from us. We appealed to the Federal Roskomnadzor, they did not give us any comments, they offered to write an appeal to them, in theory they will consider it in five days, in practice – we do not know. This is the first time we have been blocked this much. We are waiting for some information from them. All records do not state at the request of which government agency the extrajudicial blocking was carried out, which material was of particular interest, or which agency it was. “We are currently blocked on the territory of the Russian Federation,” he said.
As the editorial staff of Svobodnye Novosti reported on their social networks on April 10, the news agency’s website has become inaccessible for users of major Russian providers. According to journalists, the site does not load for some readers, for others a page opens with information about restricting access to the resource in accordance with Federal Law No. 149 “On Information, Information Technologies and Information Protection”. Journalists noted that readers abroad did not experience such problems.
Previously Roskomnadzor blocked One of the largest portals of Sakhalin Sakh.com.
