The administration of the popular Telegram messenger regularly removes materials banned in the Russian Federation at the request of Roskomnadzor. In this respect reports TASS quotes RKN.
The Russian agency said Telegram has removed more than 256 thousand illegal materials since 2021. Roskomnadzor also reported that the messenger administration immediately blocked Telegram channels of a terrorist nature.
“We have accelerated the identification and verification of Telegram channels. We especially note that channels have been created that allegedly announce new terrorist attacks. Such channels are created to scare the public. “Access to 11 such channels has been restricted in the last two days.”
Shortly before that, press secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov in the name Telegram founder Pavel Durov should monitor the messenger more closely because it is “increasingly becoming a tool in the hands of terrorists.” Peskov added that, despite this, no one in Russia will block Telegram yet.
Telegram is one of the most popular instant messaging programs in the world, created in 2013 by Russian programmer and entrepreneur Pavel Durov. More than 900 people use this service monthly.
