In response to accusations from the US Department of Justice that it is monopolizing the market, Apple confirmed that it is considering the possibility of integrating its Watch smartwatches with Google’s Android-based smartphones. These plans were rejected due to technical limitations that would not allow the full implementation of all functions of the device, reports portal 9to5Mac.
It turns out that Apple has been exploring the possibility of “making friends” with Android in its watches for three years, but ultimately concluded that current restrictions make such compatibility impossible. This had previously been reported by other sources, including Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman. However, since the first models released in early 2015, Apple Watch has only been able to work when connected to iPhone smartphones.
This leads to additional costs for Android users who have to buy new watches compatible with their smartphones, which they say is Apple’s way of abusing its market dominance, according to the Justice Department.
US Department of Justice in March 2024 filed Antitrust lawsuit against Apple. The company is accused of illegally monopolizing the smartphone market using the iPhone and a closed ecosystem.
Previously computers Apple with M chip was vulnerable to hackers.
