New MacBook Air’s processor heats up to 114 degrees under load 18:53

The author of the YouTube channel Max Tech tested the new MacBook Air with the Apple M3 chip and found that the new product gets very hot under high load and loses performance. In this respect reports WCCFTech portal.

Testing was carried out using 3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress. This test does not reflect a typical usage scenario of the device, but shows how the device behaves under high load for extended periods of time. As a result, the MacBook Air received 5916 points, while the MacBook Pro with a similar chip received 7933 points.

Both laptops had the same configuration with 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU. This huge difference is explained by the fact that the MacBook Pro has a fan that helps cool the laptop’s hardware, while the MacBook Air only has passive cooling.

During testing, the MacBook Air CPU temperature rose to 114 degrees and the GPU temperature rose to 102.9. At these temperatures, throttling (a drop in processor clock speed) occurs to prevent overheating and damage to components. In addition, the aluminum body of the MacBook Air got very hot, reaching 45-46 degrees, which made it difficult to use in real life.

Previously reportedThe yet-to-be-released Samsung laptop turned out to be more powerful than the MacBook with the M2 chip.
