Samsung Electronics announced the microSD memory card with SD Express interface. It is the first product of its kind in the world with record data transfer speeds of up to 800 MB/s. reports GSMArena portal.
It is stated that the speed of traditional SSD drives with SATA interface does not exceed 600 MB / s, while traditional UHS-1 memory cards are completely limited to 200 MB / s. Additionally, new Samsung cards feature a special Dynamic Thermal Protection (DTG) technology that protects them from overheating. So far, only the 256 GB version of the new product is available.
But to fully exploit the potential of the new cards, compatible SD Express devices are needed, of which there are very few on the market today.
In addition, Samsung announced that it has begun mass production of 1 TB microSD (UHS-1) cards based on the latest eighth-generation V-NAND flash memory. These cards will be available in the third quarter, while SD Express cards are expected to be available in 2024. More exact dates have not been announced.
