For the first time in Russian history, Chinese smartphone brands have the three largest market shares. In this respect reports Vedomosti publication cites data from retailers.
For example, the largest share (20%) in the Megafon retail network belonged to the Realme brand. Honor brand ranked second with a share of 19.4%. Xiaomi closed the top three with 19%. For comparison, the top 3 in 2022 were Samsung, Xiaomi and Realme.
In fourth place is another Chinese brand Tecno (17%). This time, Samsung could only rank fifth with 12% compared to 24% in 2022. Apple accounts for 8 percent of the market.
Wildberries provided similar data. Infinix, Tecno, Xiaomi, Samsung and Apple were in the top 5 in this market. The five most popular brands on M.Video-Eldorado are: Xiaomi, Tecno, Realme, Samsung and Infinix. In 2022, Xiaomi, Realme, Samsung, Apple and Tecno were in the rankings.
“If Apple supports users’ platform habit, then Samsung’s job is very difficult: Android is more or less the same everywhere and the manufacturer does not have its own services. Therefore, without renewed marketing efforts, the share of both manufacturers in 2024 will decrease significantly,” independent analyst Sergei Vilyanov commented on the decline in Samsung’s positions.
