Russia developed a drone classification system 08:27

Kaspersky Lab has created Russia’s first system for classifying unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) by type of danger. writes about this RIA News.

Kaspersky Antidrone business development manager Vladimir Kleshnin explained that incidents with drones have become a “headache” for infrastructure facilities such as airports and industrial enterprises. He added that the main reason the rating was created was a lack of understanding of what exactly could help customers protect themselves from drones more effectively.

This system includes four threat levels: medium, moderate, high and critical.

Medium threats include ordinary drones from an electronics store. They have factory firmware and use a normal, non-enhanced radio mode.

Drones, which can also be purchased from consumer electronics stores, are classified as medium threat but have higher noise immunity. This makes preventing a possible threat even more difficult.

Drones with hardware-enhanced transmitters are classified as high hazard. Experts note that they are even more resistant to noise, but usually such a drone is easier to track by geolocation due to strong radiation.

System developers have classified aircraft-type drones as the last, critical threat level. Such drones fly in pre-programmed coordinates without using a radio control channel.

Kleshnin is confident that the classification will create a dialogue between regulators, customers and drone manufacturers.

Previously in Russia was created new drone suppression system.
