Microsoft considered selling its Bing search engine to Apple in 2020. In this respect reports Bloomberg publication.
The business meeting took place between Microsoft executives and Apple support head Eddie Cue. The negotiations were only preliminary and no developments occurred. According to Bloomberg, Apple did not agree to the deal due to the money brought in by its partnership with Google, as well as doubts that Bing could compete with Google on “quality and features.”
Google has long been the default search engine on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Google pays Apple billions of dollars a year for this privilege. It is known for certain that the partnership with Apple, in particular, cost Google between 4 and 7 billion dollars in 2020 and 2021.
Alternatively, Apple device users can switch to Yahoo, Bing, DuckDuckGo or Ecosia. Bing has been rapidly gaining popularity among these alternatives lately, thanks to Microsoft’s partnership with OpenAI and the integration of the ChatGPT chatbot into its search service.
Previously Apple launched new macOS with gaming mode.
