Sony fell victim to a hacker attack organized by the Ransomed.vc group. The attackers claim to have hacked “all systems” of the company. reports DTF in reference to Australian publication Cyber Security Connect.
According to the source, hackers demanded a ransom from Sony to delete the stolen data, but the Japanese company refused to pay. As a result, the attackers put the information up for sale on the darknet, where it will be available until September 28, 2023. It is assumed that if no one purchases the captured data by this date, it will be published in the public domain.
Hackers claim to have seized approximately 6 thousand files belonging to Sony. As proof of their actions, they posted several screenshots online showing the allegedly stolen file structure. However, experts at Cyber Security Connect believe that this evidence is “not very convincing at first glance.”
Sony representatives have not yet commented on what is happening and have not confirmed the fact of a hacker attack. It is also unknown what information may have been stolen and what its value was. According to some reports, the majority of members of the Ransomed.vc group operate from Russia and Ukraine.
