In Google’s new, as yet unannounced Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones, the developers have dropped the Sony IMX363 camera sensor from previous models and replaced it with a component from South Korean Samsung. These release reports Android Authority.
It is stated that the main sensor in the news will be the Samsung ISOCELL GN2, which will be larger than its predecessor. This brings several improvements in shooting quality.
The sensor is larger and should capture approximately 35% more light than its predecessor for brighter low-light images and faster shutter speeds to reduce blur.
At the same time, the ultra-wide-angle cameras for the regular Pixel 8 and Pro version will be different. The Pixel 8 will have a 12-megapixel Sony IMX386 sensor, while the Pixel 8 Pro will have a 64-megapixel Sony IMX787 sensor. According to journalists, the new sensor is almost twice the size of its predecessor and will significantly improve the quality of the ultra-wide-angle camera.
At the same time, the Pixel 8 Pro will have the same 48 MP ISOCELL GM5-based periscope telephoto lens as the Pixel 7 Pro. This lens will provide 5x optical zoom.
In early June, the analytical company Canalys published the results First quarter of 2023 in smartphone sales. Experts determined that Google Pixel’s sales in the US increased by 20% year-on-year, with the brand taking 4% of the market and moving up to fourth place among all sellers in the country.
