VK has released a beta version of a mobile application for viewing VK Videos. It is available on Google Play and RuStore, and an iOS version is also promised in the near future. The app lets you watch videos both online and offline.
You can watch videos in the application without permission and registration. But the login will provide cross-platform viewing, that is, recommendations, viewing histories, uploaded and added videos are synchronized with the VKontakte account. VK ID is used for authorization in the VK Video application.
“VK Video player provides minimal lag on the first frame when watching videos of any length. Viewers can control playback by double tapping to fast forward, speed up and slow down the video, turn on automatic subtitles. Background viewing in Picture-in-Picture mode is available in VK Video. Interesting moments in videos can be found quickly using timecodes that make it easy to navigate. Viewers can save their favorite videos in “Favorites” or create playlist folders for thematic content, “shared VK.
During the beta testing period, functionality will be developed according to the wishes of users and video writers. The full-scale launch of the app is scheduled for the fall of 2023.
