The peak of the wave of DDoS attacks against the Russian Federation fell at the beginning of March, after the start of the military special operation, Dmitry Nikonov, a specialist in the field of L7 protection of the DDoS-Guard company, told socialbites.ca. According to him, attacks involving several hundred thousand devices were recorded in the first days of the month.
“According to our indicators, Russia was attacked from all European countries. Of course, sites that do not have a protection system against DDoS attacks will fail under such a load,” he said.
According to the expert, such a wide geography of attackers was due to the large distribution of sites that automatically included all visitors in DDoS attacks on Russia. Links to such resources are actively distributed by activists in Telegram chats.
Now, according to DDoS-Guard, there are malicious sites that impersonate browser games or secretly involve users in attacks, without a corresponding request or notification.
