Ubisoft accidentally breaks Linux and Steam Deck games 16:07

Ubisoft has released a new version of the Ubisoft Connect launcher that contains a bug that prevents Ubisoft games from running on Linux and Steam Deck. About informs GamingOnLinux Portal.

Games like Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, The Division 2, Watch Dogs stopped working after Ubisoft Connect was updated on Linux computers and Steam Deck Legion and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. GamingOnLinux believes the issue applies in general to all Ubisoft games that communicate with Ubisoft Connect servers at launch.

It is unknown what exactly caused the problem. It is also unknown if Ubisoft plans to fix the bug.

Despite this, enthusiasts themselves have found a way to circumvent this limitation. It is recommended to download the Proton Experimental program, which allows you to run Windows versions of programs on Linux and activate Ubisoft games through this program.

Before Ubisoft, it was noted that an update to the proprietary launcher with the same error was released by Electronic Arts. The problem was fixed after a few days.
