Veteran engineer Zach Bowling said he expected massive layoffs at Google, but was unprepared for the fact that he would be fired after eight years at the company. He told the broadcast business insider.
Bowling noted that he had been fired from other companies twice before and was familiar with the procedure for sharp increases in hiring and firing at certain periods.
“Google has imposed travel restrictions on some employees, slashed budgets, and temporarily suspended hiring. The IT professional noted that in eight years at Google, the benefits had become “less interesting.”
The developer announced that he was fired by receiving an email. “I wanted to check my work email on my phone but the account disappeared. Then my heart started beating faster,” the engineer said.
An hour after account issues, he received an email from Google that he was no longer with the company. “The letter had no face. All of a sudden you feel completely alone because you can’t even say goodbye properly anymore,” Bowling concluded.
