A developer from French IT company Qarnot has posted a photo of how he cooks dinner using a server. The post on the social network LinkedIn caught the attention of the post server news.
Computing clusters Qarnot OBx were used for cooking. The vacuum-packed duck, beef and salmon were placed in a vessel with circulating hot water. The system was busy processing 3D graphics and the temperature in the tank was kept at 55 degrees all this time.
This was quite enough to use the French sous-vide technology of cooking meat, which involves cooking at fairly low temperatures.
According to the developer, the heat from the servers can also be used to heat residential and commercial buildings. Qarnot is known as a company that helps institutions such as Adobe, Societe Generale and Fix Studio with high performance computing.
