Billionaire Bill Gates said that humanity must actively fund technology to combat climate change, otherwise the next generation will have a grim future. This was reported by the TV channel. CNBC.
“Achieving zero carbon emissions will be the biggest challenge for humanity. In less than three decades, we need to revolutionize the entire economy – the way we do things, move, generate electricity, grow food and keep it warm and cool,” the businessman said.
The good news, according to Gates, is that investments in climate technology have exceeded his expectations. “I’ve recently started looking at the world through a new lens – I’m going to be a grandpa next year,” he said.
The billionaire explained that he now perceives the problems of humanity more emotionally. “When I think about the world my grandchild will be born into, I want to help all grandchildren have a chance to survive and thrive. If we don’t achieve zero emissions, our grandchildren will grow up in a horrible world,” Gates concluded.
