Connecticut-based six-year-old Jessica Johnson unwittingly spent more than $16,000 on her favorite iPad game. About informs GMA.
According to Johnson, his son spent a total of $16,293 (about $1.12 million) buying rings in the Sonic Forces mobile game. The woman decided to share her experiences in the hope that this way she could prevent the recurrence of similar cases.
Johnson turned to the bank, Apple, and game studio Sega after identifying huge losses. Apple has agreed to return some of the $10.5k money back to it.
The company also stated that Apple gadgets have tools to help users protect themselves from unauthorized in-app purchases. For example, users can set parental controls or use the Ask to Purchase feature, which allows children to ask their parents to approve or reject a purchase.
Formerly socialbites.ca saidFrance sued Apple for €1 million for imposing unfavorable conditions on developers.
