A police officer stationed near the Al-Bayt arena in Al-Khor is monitoring fans arriving for the World Cup as some try to bypass the tournament’s alcohol restrictions by using bottle storage areas. He told TASS that security teams are observing a variety of improvised methods used by fans.

There are occasions at nearly every match when fans attempt to stay within the stadium’s rules by hiding drinks inside containers and everyday items. Reporters described efforts that include using storage spaces for bottles, as well as disguising alcohol in objects like binoculars, phone chargers, or other small items. Officials emphasize that vigilance remains high and operations are conducted with care to prevent violations.

FIFA had announced a ban on beer sales two days before the tournament began in Qatar. It is noted that the sponsorship agreement with the famous beer brand reached around 75 million dollars. Despite the ban, alcoholic beer remains available to fans in organized fan zones and other designated venues where licenses permit. These areas are separate from the general stadium environment and require appropriate authorization.

During the event, alcohol sales are restricted to licensed locations and organized gathering places near arenas. Fans who wish to drink in or near venues must comply with local regulations and the rules established by event organizers. The World Championship started on November 20 and concluded on December 18, 2022, with matches held across eight venues in five cities. The tournament culminated with the final match at the National Stadium.

In related sports coverage, commentator Dmitry Guberniev recently weighed in on the absence of certain leaders from the Russian national team at cross-country skiing events, noting sanctions and their impact on participation in stages of the World Cup and other international competitions.
