TM Benidorm banquet in Puente Genil (29-39)
Information
In the early moments, TM Benidorm showed initiative, yet BM Nava from Segovia remained on the scoreboard. A strategic timeout called by Álvaro Senovilla in the middle of the second half helped Segovia surge ahead and stretch the lead to 3-9. The adjustment proved decisive, enabling Nava to climb out of danger and push toward safety from relegation.
The match opened with a strong push from the Valley team, echoing the momentum from the previous weekend when the Alicante squad defeated Cuenca. After Carró’s dismissal within the first minute, Benidorm seized a 4-1 advantage on the scoreboard, signaling an intense contest from the outset.
Now to the next phase: Benidorm faced Palasics with the score at 28-34. Center-back Borja Méndez delivered a critical burst of three almost consecutive goals, leveling the contest. Carró then sparked a Segovian response, taking the lead around minute 18 with a 9-10 scoreline.
Argentine players Pablo Vainstein and Lucas Moscariello, supported by a sharp finish from David Roca, disrupted Benidorm’s defense in the first half. Their efforts left a slim margin of 15-14 as the teams went to the dressing rooms.
Minimum waste advantage
Coming out of the break, BM Nava started better, though the advantage was brief. Ramiro’s ejection allowed Nava to level the score with goals from Herranz and Marugán. As soon as the game returned to a numerical tie, TM Benidorm forced two Segovian dispossessions in quick succession, pulling ahead 21-19 and prompting Senovilla to call another timeout.
After the break, Marugán and Mario Nevado increased the Segovian tempo both in defense and attack. In just five minutes, around the 50th minute, the momentum swung decisively in favor of Nava, 21-25, widening the gap and sowing doubt in Benidorm’s ranks.
The action remained open, but a run of fast scoring by Nava and solid defensive pressure helped tilt the match. Caballeira’s late efforts tried to restore balance, yet Isaías Guardiola’s experience, along with late goals from Mario Nevado and Méndez, secured a seven-point triumph for BM Nava, maintaining a stable position in the relegation zone relative to Asobal’s bottom tier.
