St. Petersburg goalkeeping figure Denis Adamov posts first Instagram Stories after apartment explosion in Sochi
St. Petersburg goalkeeper Denis Adamov, who plays for Zenit, released his initial Instagram Stories in the wake of a violent incident at the building where his apartment is located. Reports identify the property’s owner as a figure banned in Russia, linked to extremist activity, and a company tied to that owner is known outside the country for controversial actions.
The published image shows Adamov in a bathroom alongside his son. In the accompanying caption, he writes, “After a terrible day, we start with Mishanya.” This phrasing suggests the family is beginning anew after the event.
According to a journalist named Ivan Karpov, Adamov, his wife, and their seven-month-old son were believed to be at home during the explosion on the evening of December 24 in Sochi. The blast damaged doors and windows of the apartment. Reports note that Adamov’s residence was not insured and that he had recently moved into the flat. The car he had rented also sustained significant damage due to the explosion. Sochi authorities offered immediate support to help the former Zenit player find temporary housing. (Source: Ivan Karpov)
Initial information indicates the explosion might have been caused by a gas leak, with the building reportedly running multiple separate gas boilers serving its apartments. (Source: emergency services briefings)
On the football field, 25-year-old Adamov had appeared in six matches across all competitions for Zenit in the current season and had conceded two goals. In the first half of the Russian Premier League season, Zenit stood in second place with 36 points, trailing the league leaders, Krasnodar, by two points. The team is under the management of Sergei Semak.
Earlier footage from the area documented by local observers showed video taken after the explosion at the home of a Zenit player, providing context for fans and analysts following the incident. (Source: regional news reports)
