Referee Sergey Karasev, who oversaw the 28th round clash between Spartak Moscow and CSKA, addressed the controversial refereeing incident that dominated the latest match. According to RB Sports, he noted that if postgame comments were required, he would meet at the stadium and provide them. He added that derby matches are always intense, especially the Spartak versus CSKA duel.
Karasev was also asked about his readiness to publicly disclose any decisions he intends to make regarding the derby. He stated that he would meet with the refereeing department and was prepared to act if necessary.
The most striking moment of the last derby involved a double sending off. Karasev first sent Alexander Sobolev off for a provocative gesture toward Willian Roshi, and then showed Rocher a direct red card for a repeated action by Sobolev. Spartak ultimately claimed a 2-1 victory, lifting them to third place in the RPL table with 53 points, while CSKA stayed second with 54 points.
After the match, CSKA Moscow coach Vladimir Fedotov addressed his players, acknowledging the team cannot blame anyone but themselves for failing to convert their numerous chances into a result in the 28th round of the Russian Premier League.
