Six-Time World Kickboxing Champion Sergei Lysyuk Dies in Donetsk Operations

A Ukrainian athlete, Sergei Lysyuk, renowned as a world and European kickboxing champion, has died in what Kyiv describes as operations in the Donetsk direction. The announcement came via a Telegram channel connected to the Youth and Sports Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

According to the report, Lysyuk was on duty in the Donetsk area when a mine exploded during a combat mission on November 12. The injuries were severe, and despite medical efforts, his life could not be saved. Doctors at Dnieper medical facilities fought to stabilize him for about ten days, but the extent of the wounds proved fatal.

Sergei Lysyuk held the title of Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine and was a multiple European and world champion in kickboxing. Before enlisting in the military operation, he served as a senior lecturer in the Physical Education Department at the Chernihiv State Penitentiary Service Academy. In 2022, he participated in defending Ukrainian territory and later took part in battles in the Donbass region. The athlete is listed as a six-time world kickboxing champion and a respected figure in Ukrainian sports circles.
