The focus turns to the squads that could bring Diego Alonso and Manuel Pellegrini to life at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán for the Sevillan derby.
The Big Derby is back. Sevilla and Betis meet again next Sunday on matchday 13 of the league season.
In this sense, it is worth examining the squads each manager could field to highlight their plans at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.

Diego Alonso’s doubts
Sevilla coach Diego Alonso has confirmed the absence of Nyland due to a quadriceps injury for this match. There are doubts over Sergio Ramos, Soumaré and Marcao because of muscular issues. A potential starting XI for Sevilla could be Dmitrovic; Navas, Gudelj, Badé, Acuña; Sow, Soumaré or Fernando, Rakitic; Ocampos, En-Nesyri, Lukebakio.
Lucas Ocampos and Gudelj are the only Sevilla players who have been warned ahead of the next matchday.
Claudio Bravo, at Betis
Pellegrini faced the absence of Rui Silva, Sabaly and Bartra, and Claudio Bravo is out after an injury in the Europa League clash with Aris Limassol last Thursday. Pezzella also finished with discomfort but is expected to play.
“Unfortunately Germán Pezzella had to return to the field with discomfort, and we will assess Claudio Bravo’s problem,” Pellegrini explained in recent hours, noting the goalkeeper could miss Sunday’s game due to the muscle issue. “Let’s see. It is possible this is worrying because Rui Silva is also injured. We will wait until Sunday. Germán felt some discomfort. The situation with Claudio could be a contracture. We will see.”
And on Friday the medical report confirmed a proximal myotendinous injury to the left hamstring for Bravo. Betis has not yet been informed about the prognosis, and Bravo will not be able to play against Sevilla. Fran Vieites will replace him, after making his debut against Barça earlier this season.
The 24-year-old Vieites debuted against Barcelona after Rui Silva suffered an injury that left him out at halftime. Betis already suffered a 2-0 defeat and later a 5-0 loss in that campaign. Vieites has featured eight times for the Second Federation reserve team, conceding ten goals and keeping three clean sheets.
The Betis starting XI could therefore be Vieites; Bellerín, Pezzella, Riad, Miranda; Guido, Marc Roca; Isco, Assane Diao, Willian José, Ayoze.
Isco is the only Betis player warned ahead of the next matchday.
