In preparation for the World Cup Round of 16 clash between Spain and Morocco, authorities organized a comprehensive preventive security operation in the cities of Alicante and Elche. Scheduled to begin in the early afternoon, the plan aims to ensure public safety during a highly anticipated match taking place today, Tuesday, December 6. The operation centers on maintaining order and preventing potential disturbances as thousands of fans gather to celebrate the game.

More than 200 specialized units will be deployed to patrol key areas, ready to respond to any incidents, riots, or unruly behavior. The security framework brings together several forces and units to create a robust protective veil around the event while minimizing disruption to everyday life for residents and visitors alike.

The device includes personnel from the Unified Public Security Response, the General Operations Regiment, the Mobile Brigade, and the Air Security and Protection Service, which operates drones to monitor crowds from above. Support will also come from the Rapid Response Operation Group and local police traffic, neighborhood, and USEC units. The operation will be distributed across two cities with focused attention on locations where fans are likely to concentrate, ensuring a coordinated and swift response if needed.

The operation was planned through a joint coordination session involving security forces and participating parties. It is scheduled to start around 15:30, half an hour before kickoff, with reinforcement added after the match finishes, approximately around six in the evening. The emphasis is on preventative measures to deter rude or aggressive conduct and to prevent any incidents between groups of fans.

Both security agencies bring extensive experience and established coordination with common devices. The overarching goal is to anticipate and prevent conflicts, while traffic units stand ready to manage road deviations or temporary closures when necessary. Special attention will be given to Plaza del Mar, a known gathering point for fans on celebratory occasions.

Authorities have issued clear guidelines to ensure safety. The use of cartridges, rockets, and similar devices is prohibited to prevent burns, injuries, and damage to public property. The focus remains on a safe, orderly celebration with minimal disruption to the public realm.
