A former head coach of the Russian national football team, Boris Ignatiev, said in an interview that Dynamo Moscow faced a heavy defeat against Rostov in the opening match of the 22nd round of the Russian Premier League due to an unsettled psychological state within the squad.
According to Ignatiev, the blue-and-white squad delivered a weak performance, allowing three goals in the first half as a result of mental laxity and a lack of focus.
Rostov appeared flawless in the opening period, while Dynamo struggled to find their rhythm and entered the game without the energy needed to compete and gain momentum. They looked more competitive after the break, yet the damage on the scoreboard proved irreversible.
On March 29, Rostov defeated Dynamo Moscow by four goals to one, with Mohebi delivering a brace and providing an assist. Kirill Shchetinin and Danil Glebov also added goals for Rostov.
Following this victory, Rostov accumulated 30 points and climbed to ninth place in the Russian Premier League standings, with Zenit leading the table. Krasnodar, in second, closed the gap to one point behind, while Dynamo sits in third.
Previously, Ignatiev had explained that the league leaders’ drop in form in round 22 came after the international break.
