RFU Chief on UEFA’s Stance and AFC Possibility for Russia

Maxim Mitrofanov, the General Secretary of the Russian Football Union (RFU), commented on the stance of Aleksander Čeferin, the president of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), regarding a possible split of the RFU to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). Mitrofanov conveyed Čeferin’s outlook, noting that the UEFA chief does not want Russia to depart and views such a move as something he would resist as a last resort.
