In a debut competition that brought together runners and Nordic walkers, the event honored winners across both men’s and women’s divisions. The Prosolia Alicante Women’s Race stood out as a highlight, drawing attention to a thriving community of athletes who embraced the challenge with enthusiasm. Podium spots in the men’s category complemented the achievements of the women who also shone in their own right. The field included standout performers such as Tamara Baeza and Vero Santiana, who contributed to a positive, upbeat atmosphere that defined the day. With more than 800 participants, the energy was unmistakable and the five kilometer course was enjoyed by every participant as a shared experience rather than a mere race. The organizers delivered a solid, well-structured event that managed to balance competition with celebration, reinforcing confidence in future editions. RunRun For Your Life partnered with the Department of Sports and Equality to present a program that offered multiple modalities: running, walking, and Nordic Walking. More than 400 people joined the running option, over 300 took part in walking, and 75 participants chose Nordic Walking, a reflection of the event’s inclusive design and broad appeal. The presence of a notable female participant underscored the inclusivity that characterized the day. The overall mood was one of camaraderie and mutual encouragement, with volunteers and supporters contributing to a welcoming environment for participants from diverse backgrounds.
Prosolia Women’s Race will have 800 participants
The event drew attention across the region as it limbered through Alicante’s Pau-5 route, completing the five kilometer distance with a sense of shared achievement. The winners in the running and Nordic Walking categories, along with the top three women’s teams in each grouping — whether mother and daughter, mother and two daughters, two sisters, three sisters, grandparents and grandchildren, or couples — were recognized and rewarded with prizes from local Pau-5 merchants. The organizing team is already laying plans for the next edition, aiming to build on the momentum and widen participation to reflect a broader cross section of the community. The competition demonstrated that a well-coordinated, community-focused event can attract both serious runners and casual enthusiasts, including families and friends who come to cheer and celebrate personal bests. The experience also served as a reminder that urban races can be a powerful vehicle for promoting health, fitness, and social connection across neighborhoods in both Canada and the United States, where similar community events are increasingly popular and well received.
