The upcoming promotion race in Argentine football will be decided by a single head-to-head clash between the winners of each zone in the second category. The road to the top flight is clear but fiercely contested, as teams strive not only for a place in the Professional League but also for the chance to claim the second division title along the way.

In Argentina, the First National enters its final phase with a field that includes no fewer than 37 clubs. They are split into Zone A, which comprises 19 teams, and Zone B, with 18. The ultimate prize goes beyond promotion to the highest level; the grand final also offers a championship in the second division, making this clash a pivotal event for both prestige and advancement.

THIS WILL SHAPE THE FIRST NATIONAL PROMOTION

The decisive round features the two winners from each group and a date has been set to determine the overall victor. In Zone A, Farmers and Admiral Brown share the lead with 58 points, and the goal difference favors the squad from Carlos Casares. San Martin de Tucuman follows closely with 56 points, waiting for a slip that could alter the tier race. In Zone B, Chacarita missed their chance to secure top spot, while Independiente Rivadavia now sits within a single point of the leaders, keeping the tension high until the final whistle.

WHEN AND WHERE THE FINAL WILL BE HELD

The decisive match will adhere to the 2023 First National rules, conducted as a single game on a neutral venue. If the 90 minutes end level, two extra periods will be played. Should the score remain tied after extra time, the result will be decided by a shootout. The exact date and venue will be announced in the special bulletin No. 6227 of the Argentine Football Association and will be confirmed on the basis of which teams reach the final. The hosting stadium will be named on Saturday, October 28, following the finalists’ identities and logistical arrangements. This setup aims to ensure fairness by neutralizing home-field advantage and creating a definitive, dramatic conclusion to the season’s most consequential matches.
