The club president, Eloy Moreno, announced that a significant winter market fair will open to kick off a series of strategic moves. The plan centers on reshaping the squad, aiming to pull Orihuela C.F. out of the relegation zone and push toward playoff contention. With a clear objective in mind, the organization is moving forward to ensure a successful campaign and the possibility of promotion to the first RFEF, a milestone the club is determined to fulfill.

Orihuela’s leadership signals action to reverse negative trends

The club’s leadership is signaling a proactive stance as the season progresses. A change in the coaching setup has begun, with Sergi Guilló stepping in to replace Óscar Sánchez. The new leadership faces a challenging slate of results and a flurry of activity in the transfer market as the club adapts to evolving competitive realities.

Orihuela’s new coach is Sergi Guilló, formerly of Elche

The club announced the appointment of Sergi Guilló as the head coach, bringing a fresh perspective from his prior experience with Elche. This decision marks a new chapter for the team as it aims to recalibrate tactics and training methods under Guilló’s guidance. The transition is accompanied by a broader strategy from the sports management to strengthen the squad during the winter window.

The recruitment drive continues as Orihuela has added the left back Goyo Medina and the Moroccan winger Hanza Bellari to the roster. The players begin training with the squad after formal confirmation on the midweek schedule, with sports director Toché overseeing the integration process.

In parallel, several players have departed during the market window. Rafael Ortiz has left the squad, along with Damian Navarro, and forwards Jemie Yayi-Mpie and Jawed Abd El Resak have moved on to new opportunities. Medina, who is 24, is a left-sided player with development roots in the Villarreal system and has previous experience competing for promotion in the Primera RFEF with Santa Eulalia and Atlético Saguntino. Throughout last season he appeared in role-specific matches and logged significant minutes during key fixtures of the Second RFEF campaign.

Hanza Bellari arrives on loan from Nàstic de Tarragona. The 21-year-old joined from Pobla de Mafumet, a Catalan club serving as a player feeder in the Tercera RFEF. In the prior stint with Pobla, he accumulated 865 minutes on the pitch, registered two goals, and later featured for clubs including Mercantile, Girona, Damm, and Cerdanyola as part of a broader development path.

The club cautions that these are only the initial moves in a broader plan. In the coming days, Orihuela intends to announce additional arrivals to equip Sergi Guilló with the tools needed to elevate on-field performance. The coaching staff and management hope these changes will accelerate the squad’s ascent in the standings and bring the team closer to the top tier of the table.
