Orenburg Welcomes Chilean Midfielder Jordi Thompson on Loan

The football club Orenburg has announced the signing of Chilean midfielder Jordi Thompson. The confirmation came from the club’s press service. Thompson, aged 19, joined Orenburg on a loan from Colo-Colo in Chile. The agreement includes an option to buy, with the contract giving Orenburg the right to purchase the player. Details of the arrangement with the player were not disclosed publicly.

Transfermarkt lists the player’s market value at around 800 thousand euros. Thompson has represented Chile at the youth level, contributing to the national team setup in younger age groups.

Reports indicate Thompson departed Chile amid allegations of violent conduct toward his former partner. He reportedly left the country under an involvement with an apartment security arrangement, and his participation in activities in Russia is limited to the current season. Beyond the season’s end, clearance would be required for him to travel again, otherwise it could breach the terms of the court order in place.

In the current Russian Premier League standings, Orenburg sits fourteenth, with a mid-season tally that reflects a mix of results. The squad entered the winter break with fifteen points from a schedule featuring three wins, six draws, and eight defeats, illustrating a team still seeking stability and consistency for the remainder of the campaign.

There is a note about a new arrival to the league who previously clarified the reasons behind a prior departure from CSKA, signaling ongoing movement and adjustments within the squad as the season resumes.
