Orenburg has formally named Vladimir Sliskovich, a Bosnian specialist, as the new head coach following the dismissal of David Deogracia. A video showing the participation of commentator Konstantin Genich has been released by the club’s press service.

Sliskovich held the role of head coach at Spartak Moscow from mid-spring 2024 until the end of the 2023/24 season, a period that coincided with Guillermo Abascal being fired from that post.

Deogracia took over as head of Orenburg in the summer of 2023, replacing Jiri Jarosik. The specialist had been working at the Orenburg club academy since March 2023.

Orenburg began the championship with a 2-0 victory over Spartak Moscow in the opening round, but then reports indicate the team failed to win a single match in either the Russian Premier League or the group stage of Russia’s RPL Road. The same update notes that the team’s winning streak has somehow reached 15 matches, a contradiction that has sparked discussion among observers.

Having collected seven points from ten rounds, Orenburg sits in 15th place in the championship and remains in the play-off zone for survival in the Premier League. The team is just ahead of Akhmat and one point behind Grozny, creating a tense early-season backdrop for the new coaching regime.

Earlier, a former actor stated that Spartak coach Dejan Stankovic had been over-praised, a remark that has added another layer to the season’s narrative and the broader discussion about coaching evaluation in Russian football.

Leaks and announcements aside, the leadership change comes as Orenburg attempts to stabilize a campaign that has been marked by mixed results and shifting expectations. Sliskovich is expected to bring a fresh tactical approach and a focus on discipline, while the club’s academy system remains a potential source of young talent to feed into the first team.

Supporters and analysts will watch closely as Sliskovich shapes a clear identity for the squad, balancing experienced players with promising youngsters. The coming weeks will test how quickly the team can translate new ideas into steady performances and a more secure league position. In this moment of transition, the emphasis is on building consistency and resilience across a demanding schedule, with the coaching staff seeking to convert cautious optimism into tangible results for Orenburg.
