Puget Systems, a long-standing benchmark authority for PC configurations, publishes an annual assessment of the most reliable components for desktop workstations and server setups. The study shows the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000 and Threadripper Pro 7000WX processors leading the CPU category with a failure rate of about 2 percent, roughly half the industry average of five percent. The greater complexity of modern chips partly explains why failure rates vary, yet these processors demonstrate exceptional stability under demanding tasks.
GPU reliability is even more pronounced. The overall GPU failure rate averages around 0.68 percent, while NVIDIA RTX Ada generation and ASUS GeForce RTX 40 series cards register under 0.5 percent. The ASUS GeForce RTX 40 series TUF cards stood out, with some models reporting zero losses in the field during the period covered by the study.
Motherboards show a higher average failure rate, about 4.9 percent, though the ASUS TUF B760M-Plus Wi-Fi II was a notable exception with sub 1 percent errors.
Kingston also earned high marks. The 32 GB DDR5-5600 modules KVR56U46BD8-32 posted only 0.15 percent errors, about three times lower than the market average. The KC3000 SSD line proved even more dependable, showing only 0.08 percent failures, roughly 20 times lower than many competitors.
Super Flower’s power supplies reaffirm their leadership. The LEEDEX VII Gold ATX 3.0 units in 1000 W and 1300 W configurations, alongside the LEEDEX Titanium ATX 3.0 1600 W model, registered a combined error rate of 0.26 percent.
Puget Systems notes the report relies on data provided by partners and does not cover the entire computer market. Still, the findings offer practical guidance for North American PC builders looking to maximize reliability in custom configurations.
The data underscore the value of choosing proven components to ensure long-term performance in demanding workloads and professional environments.
These results give DIY builders and professional shops a clearer path to assemble systems that balance power, efficiency, and dependable operation across the continent.
