Former Fiorentina and Manchester United star Andrei Kanchelskis shared thoughts on CSKA defender Igor Diveev and his expressed interest in the Italian league. The remarks were reported by Metaratings.ru.
Kanchelskis noted that clubs such as Juventus, Milan, or Napoli could consider Diveev in the future if they need a solid defender or if a current player is set to depart after the season ends. He emphasized that teams would first assess the type of defender best suited to their style and the homegrown potential Diveev could bring to the squad.
Igor Diveev joined CSKA on a loan from Ufa on February 22, 2019, and on May 31 of that year the army club announced the purchase of his contract, signing a five-year deal with the defender.
Earlier, Diveev sustained an injury in September during the tenth round of the Russian Premier League match against Torpedo. After examinations, doctors diagnosed tibial fracture. His representative stated that the defender would be unable to participate in league matches until the season’s return in 2023.
There had been media reports about interest from foreign clubs in the defender. Diveev previously remarked that his perspective on certain players shifted after the onset of the special operation in Ukraine, which influenced his views on international football prospects.
