MTS surprised gamers by presenting its first cloud gaming console yesterday, December 27, a move that marked a new step for the telecom company beyond smartphones and traditional set-top boxes. In the hours after sales began, every unit from the initial batch was sold out, underscoring a strong appetite for affordable, ready-to-play gaming at home. The new device runs on the MTS Fog Play platform and drew attention with a very accessible price of 4,990 rubles. Company executives said a fresh batch would be released within two days, aligning with the typical restock cadence seen when new hardware enters the market.
Geography shows a clear pattern in demand. Early data indicate the bulk of purchases came from Moscow and the surrounding region, capturing about 65 percent of all sales. Saint Petersburg followed with around 10 percent, then Novosibirsk about 6 percent, Kazan around 5 percent, and Krasnodar near 4.5 percent. This distribution highlights how urban centers are driving early adoption of cloud gaming hardware, while interest in other regions ramps up more gradually.
The MTS console runs on an Amlogic S905Y4 chip and is equipped with 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage. It supports Full HD resolution at 60 frames per second, and a stable internet connection with a speed of at least 30 Mbps is recommended to ensure smooth play. Access is managed through the MTS Fog Play service by the user’s telephone number, a setup that streamlines login and keeps account association simple.
