Russian tennis standout Daniil Medvedev spoke about missing two doping tests in the recent past, set against the backdrop of American Jenson Brooksby being dismissed for a testing information violation. Medvedev’s words reflect how sport faces up to rules as quickly as possible.
“This is my first year under the ADAMS system (Anti-Doping Administration and Management System). It isn’t easy. The two missed tests happened a while back, and I decided not to miss another one. I can’t afford another miss. I don’t think I’ve missed any since,” Medvedev explained.
On July 7, Medvedev advanced to the Wimbledon third round by beating France’s Adrian Mannarino. The final score stood at 6-3, 6-3, 7-6. The match began on July 6 but was delayed by dusk and falling light.
The interview lasted two hours and twenty-eight minutes. Medvedev delivered seven aces, logged three double faults, and converted five of eleven break opportunities.
In the next round, Medvedev is slated to face Hungary’s Marton Fucsovics.
According to the Professional Tennis Players Association (ATP) rankings, Medvedev sits third with 5890 points. Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz leads with 7675 points, while Novak Djokovic holds second with 7595 points.
Former player Andrei Olhovsky noted Medvedev’s victory over Mannarino in Wimbledon’s second round, commenting on the progression and performance in the tournament.
