The Barça academy produced a dream moment as a young star delivered victory the moment he stepped onto the field.
At just 17, Marc Guiu stepped onto the pitch as Barcelona faced Athletic Club de Bilbao with the match deadlocked at 0-0. With 11 minutes remaining, he stepped in with a burst of skill and resolve, curling in the decisive goal just 33 seconds after entering the action.
<p Guiu, who also features for Barça Atlètic, the club’s reserve side, has long been a standout in Barça’s youth categories. His rapid instinct for scoring and his fearless approach have marked him as a rising talent within the organization. The moment he found the net in his first team appearance underscored his readiness to seize opportunities when they arise on the big stage.
After the final whistle, Guiu shared his elation and offered first impressions about his dream debut with the Barcelona first team shirt in a post-match interview with DAZN.
Marc Guiu: “I can’t believe it, I’m out of breath”
“La Masia is thriving. The work being done is evident, and it deserves to be leveraged during tough times for the club. I tell the youth team to keep pushing; everyone here is eager to reach this level,” he explained after the game.
“I can’t believe it. I’m breathless. I’m savoring the moment. You can’t imagine this, but I have trained my whole life to seize chances, and today one came my way.”
“Iñigo told me I should not sleep tonight but rather enjoy it,” he revealed, recounting the goal sequence: “Joao Félix controlled the ball, I sensed space behind the defense, he handed me the pass, and I managed to outpace Unai Simón. It was an honor to score against a goalkeeper of his standing.”
Xavi: “I picked him for the goal he scored.”
“This local kid made a difference, and his goal earned us three vital points. I called him up because of the quality of that finish. It has purpose and spark, and I value that a lot. I don’t hesitate to put faith in the young players who come through the house. They offered me belief when I was 17 or 18.”
