The Lucentum Foundation is undergoing a strategic shift focused on formalization to solidify its governance. Toni Gallego has stepped into a leadership role tied to municipal politics, entering the Popular Party list as the head of the sports division. His trusted associate will assume his duties within the club, Daniel Adriasola, who previously served as Vice President. Both are now central to a task force dedicated to preserving the club’s brand and its historic legacy after nearly a decade of financial distress. The organization faced a debt load of ten million euros and is pursuing liquidation under bankruptcy proceedings for the SAD.
Lucentum SAD, case closed
The leadership changes extend beyond these appointments. The club anticipates bringing new trustees onto the board to accelerate growth, ensure continuity in management, and spark fresh initiatives that support development, modernization, and digitization of the entity.
Adriasola and Gallego now oversee Lucentum Alicante, guiding a club that during the 2013-14 season shifted its first team from the fifth tier of Spanish basketball to the elite LEB Oro. This move marked a milestone toward greater competitiveness, with the team reaching the playoff stage for promotion to ACB in recent campaigns. This resilience mirrors a second sustained effort to return to the top flight since the 2019-2020 season.
According to the official statement, Toni Gallego will conclude his presidency after a tenure focused on sustainable growth and on stabilizing the club’s sporting and economic assets. The leadership transition is framed as a step toward ensuring long-term viability for the Lucentum project.

From the club’s earliest seasons in the 1st National, administration has remained intensely committed. While their base has grown, the foundation’s supporters have remained deeply involved, securing a solid base for the SAD’s evolution and for current operations under the Foundation’s umbrella.
The new leadership acknowledges the ongoing effort of a broad community that has helped build a resilient family around Lucentum, with Adriasola named to steer the organization forward. The transition is presented as a fresh phase within the club’s broader strategy, maintaining continuity with past work while embracing the next chapter.
I want to thank everyone who has built this great family around the Foundation and who continues to keep Lucentum in capable hands. The new administration pledges to honor the work of Toni Gallego and to ensure the club remains a trusted home for players, staff, and fans alike.
I want to acknowledge all who have contributed to the Foundation’s growth and continuity. The leadership transition is a milestone, and the hope is that Lucentum remains strong under new stewardship.
The new trajectory signals a commitment to further organizational and management enhancements. The board plans to invite additional voices to join the trustees, bringing dream, effort, and experience to a unified mission that supports both sporting ambitions and social responsibility.
