Where to watch the 2023-2024 Champions League group stage draw live online: viewing options, streams and TV coverage

Following the earlier rounds, the group stage draw for the 2023-2024 Champions League is scheduled for Thursday, August 31, at 18:00 CET, as confirmed by UEFA. On that day, clubs such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid, Real Sociedad, and Sevilla will learn their group stage opponents and the pathways to the knockout rounds ahead.

How the draw unfolds

  • The draw brings together 32 clubs: 26 teams qualified directly for the group stage and six winners from the playoff rounds.
  • Teams are placed into four pots. Pot 1 features the defending champions, the Europa League titleholders, and the champions of the top six associations yet to qualify via current titles. Pots 2 through 4 are determined by club coefficient rankings.
  • When federations have more than one representative, clubs are paired to split fixtures between Tuesday and Wednesday. If a federation has four representatives, two pairings are formed. These pairings consider television audiences to optimize broadcast value.
  • clubs cannot face opponents from their own federation. Any additional restrictions will be announced ahead of the draw.

What happens after the draw

The group stage fixtures are confirmed once the draw is completed. Each team will play six group matches, facing three rivals home and away. The top two teams from each group advance to the round of 16. The third-placed team in every group moves into the UEFA Europa League knockout path, where they vie for a place in the round of 16 against Europa League group runners-up.
