Elizaveta Khudaiberdieva, a Russian figure skater known for performing ice dance with Yegor Bazin, faced serious illness before securing the national title. The report comes from DEA News.

She revealed that a week before the championship she battled the flu, and three days prior she endured vomiting sessions greater than anything she had previously experienced. It appeared the antiviral medication had impacted her liver, leading to a severe poisoning episode. She stopped eating for three days, not due to an eating disorder, but because she physically could not. She still went on to compete, weighing just 45 kilos, a stark contrast to her normal condition.

She described waking on the day of the competition feeling nauseous at breakfast, unable to even sip water. The sickness worsened with time, and she found it increasingly hard to eat as the event approached.

Khudaiberdieva and Bazin claimed gold at the Russian Championships held in Krasnoyarsk in December 2022, overcoming two partner falls and the ensuing criticism from fans and specialists alike.

The pair have been skating together since 2020. Prior to this partnership, Bazin had performed in duets with Sofia Evdokimova, and Khudaiberdieva had danced alongside Nikita Nazarov and Andrei Filatov.

In April, it was announced that Khudaiberdieva and Bazin would leave coach Denis Samokhin in favor of Alexander Zhulin, marking another shift in their coaching journey.

The story surrounding Khudaiberdieva then took another turn when Alina Zagitova moved into the public eye through a social media video, drawing attention to the broader circle of skaters and their evolving paths.
