Kenya Federation Sets Pending Date and Venue for Russia Friendly

The Football Kenya Federation General Secretary, Barry Otieno, spoke in an interview with Sports24 about a forthcoming match between the Kenyan and Russian national teams. He indicated that the exact date and location would be finalized soon, with Monday expected to bring a decision on these details.

Otieno noted that the confirmation would include the date, venue, and other key particulars, and emphasized that negotiations between the two federations were already in advanced stages.

Looking ahead, Russia is scheduled to host Cameroon on October 12 in a separate international fixture. Valery Karpin’s squad last played a competitive match in November 2021, a World Cup qualifier against Croatia that ended 0-1.

In 2022, Russia’s national team and its clubs faced suspension from FIFA and UEFA competitions, a measure imposed in the spring of that year. The bans affected Russia-wide participation in events governed by these two bodies, affecting both national teams and club sides alike.

Dmitry Bulykin, a former Dynamo Moscow and Zenit player, has been noted in discussions surrounding recent fixtures and results, including matches against Lokomotiv Moscow. His involvement highlights ongoing conversations about player contributions and domestic club performances during this period.
