Ibiza is preparing for a grand reception as the Spanish women’s national team makes a triumphant return from the World Cup, promising a vivid celebration on the island. The plan is to land at five o’clock in the afternoon and stage a public parade through Vila to the Island Council headquarters on Avenida de España, where island authorities will greet them, according to Diario de Ibiza, part of the Prensa Ibérica group (Diario de Ibiza).

The squad that etched its name in World Cup history in Australia and New Zealand will bring the coveted World Cup trophy to share with the fans on the talismanic island. Only a couple of days will elapse before the team returns to the Spanish mainland. Although most of the delegation is expected to head home, it is not confirmed that the entire group will relocate for the celebrations.

Spain earned a historic first appearance at the World Cup on the field in Ibiza. The camp had built a memorable run this spring, including wins over Norway and China in a pair of friendly fixtures. President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales, who led Spain to victory in a dramatic final against England on the day of celebration, announced that the celebrations would continue on the island following the Madrid festivities (Diario de Ibiza).

As reported by Diario de Ibiza, the island’s authorities coordinated the invitation with international organizers through the federation. The team stayed in Ibiza from April 4 to 11, and the Ibiza City Council had already discussed whether fans would line the routes along the parade, whether the team won or lost. After maintaining steady contact with players and coaches, the local authorities extended an offer for the team to visit the island’s premier institutions and celebrate the milestone where the journey began.

On Monday, the team faced a long return flight from the antipodes to Madrid, where a celebratory gathering was held at Madrid Río at 21:00. A reception in Moncloa by Deputy Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez followed on Tuesday, and in the afternoon the players would travel back to Ibiza to mark the success on the island that started it all. Speculation points toward a bus tour to Consell along Avenida de España, where they would lift the trophy and speak with local authorities.

International players visiting for the celebratory moment will be brief. With pre-season obligations looming, the crew has limited time before their clubs’ preparations resume. Ibiza, however, is ready to hold its breath and roll out the red carpet for a legendary squad, welcoming them with open arms and a sense of shared achievement (Diario de Ibiza).
