Antonio Hidalgo has taken charge of SD Huesca, succeeding Cuco Ziganda, and recently marked his debut with a meaningful point as the team drew with Eibar. In the build-up to the upcoming match, anticipation centered on the encounter against Elche at the Alcoraz stadium on Sunday, October 22, scheduled for 16:15. Elche has shown growth in recent weeks and will present a stubborn challenge, despite not yet achieving a home win this season and experiencing a slower start overall.

“Winning away from home in this league is never easy. The new coach has been in place since late last season and has introduced a bold plan that demands time to bear fruit. The squad is still coming together, pieces are being arranged,” the Huesca technician explained. “Elche is a brave side trying to assert control and be a protagonist, even if they might be more vulnerable than some rivals. With our height and our approach, we have a well-defined strategy to counter them.”

Do Elche have a plan B?

Despite the early weeks under Hidalgo, the team has continued to grow and adapt after another week of work with the new staff. Hidalgo emphasized a gradual increase in understanding and a broader plan: “We are getting to know each other better and we keep pursuing more of what we want. We’ve influenced the intensity, the duels, holding the ball more, and attacking more.”

Huesca’s coach believes his side emerged stronger from the Eibar match and now aims to collect three points at home. “Winning is urgent; we’ve only had one victory and it didn’t come at our stadium. Our job becomes easier when our supporters are with us. Their motivation is vital, and they must feel that they are an essential part of the team.”

The Aragonese club’s boss also hopes for more possession against Elche than was seen in the previous match at Ipurúa. He warned, however, that Elche will present a difficult test: “We must be brave and maintain tactical order, but we will face a bold opponent who plays high and comes to look for us. We’ll have to identify their weaknesses so our strengths can shine even brighter.”
