EON Horneo Alicante is set to travel to Ibiza this week to face the island club on Saturday, February 10, at 19:30. After a stretch of more than three games without scoring and a run of results that marks the toughest period of the season, Fernando Latorre’s squad will aim to reclaim a victory almost a month after their last win.
Before heading to the Pitiusas, Alicante took on a demanding schedule at the Hermano Felicísimo Ruiz pavilion, facing Malaga (23-29) and Alkobendas (23-25). The trip concluded with a setback against Villa de Aranda (29-22) as they returned empty handed from the road tests.
Horneo Alicante defender Nacho Salgado conveyed a strong wish to break the cycle that has halted progress in the non-promotional stretch toward the Asobal League. “We travel to Ibiza with a lot of energy and anticipation. It is essential to play with confidence and avoid the mistakes that previously cost us games,” says the Madrid-born player.
Having joined the Alicante squad last July, Salgado notes that results may not fully reflect the quality on the pitch. He emphasizes that the team has performed well across the season, yet recognizes that even a small error can add heavy pressure.
Salgado closes by underscoring that the current phase is a real struggle, a time when anyone can win in the Silver Honor Group. Regarding the opponent HC Eivissa, he warns that the match should be approached with caution, despite Ibiza needing a victory to escape relegation. He adds that the outcome of the clash will not be defined by past meetings and stresses the importance of maintaining focus from start to finish.
