In the school bearing his name, a new sports class is set to open on the Constellation Ice Palace grounds in 2024, a move designed to let young hockey players train and study under one roof, announced NM Karamzin. This confirmation came from HC Sozvezdie head coach Ivan Lyaskevich after his team clinched a victory over Vityaz on January 21.
The coach emphasized that the win reflected not only strong on-ice performance but also the benefits of solid infrastructure that supports the team’s development.
Plans for the upcoming season include advancing to Group A of the FHM regular season and establishing a sports class at the Karamzin school adjacent to the arena. The program will integrate academics with athletic training, allowing students to start their day at school and finish in the evening at the same location. This setup is expected to benefit players who live far away by simplifying their daily routine, reducing travel, and embedding education and sport into a single, streamlined schedule, Lyaskevich explained.
Lyaskevich also noted that the players delivered an excellent performance in the tournament, defeating teams from both Groups B and A as part of the contest’s progression.
In the final, the Constellation squad faced Spartak, a club regarded as one of the strongest teams in Russia in recent years. Despite the loss, the players absorbed positive momentum from their training at the Constellation arena, which supported their strong showing across the tournament.
The 13th hockey tournament honoring Olympic champion Yuri Lyapkin was held in Balashikha from January 18 to 21, providing a platform for emerging talents to compete at a high level and showcase the region’s growing hockey development programs, including the Constellation team’s ongoing efforts.
Source notes indicate that the new educational sports pathway aims to cultivate a seamless culture of study and sport, helping young athletes balance school commitments with rigorous training. The initiative aligns with broader regional efforts to foster homegrown talent and streamline athlete pathways through integrated academies and year-round competition opportunities.
