In practical terms, Haaland will not participate in the two matches this week in the Euro 2024 qualifying group, and he will not travel to meet Georgia. The team statement explains the situation clearly:
“Erling Braut Haaland experienced groin pain after the game against Burnley. The hope was that this would be a minor issue that would improve by Saturday, but after further tests yesterday it was confirmed that he cannot take part in the games against Spain and Georgia. It is preferable for him to receive medical follow-up at his club, as advised by the team doctor Ola Sand.”
Haaland is set to return home from the national team camp. The forward found it difficult to accept that he could not help his teammates. Still, the group remains confident, with significant talent and cohesion that they believe will secure points in the upcoming fixtures. The team remains focused on being fully prepared for Saturday and the next Tuesday match.
