Haaland’s absence will be felt as Norway completes two crucial fixtures this week in the Euro 2024 qualifying campaign in Germany. He will not travel to meet Georgia, either, according to the statement.

“Erling Braut Haaland experienced discomfort in his groin after the match against Burnley. Our hope was that this would fade with time and not affect the Saturday game, but subsequent tests and examinations yesterday confirmed he cannot participate in the matches against Spain and Georgia. It was decided that he would return to his club for focused medical follow-up, as advised by the team doctor Ola Sand,” the release explained.

The forward is on his way back from the national team camp, with Haaland reportedly struggling to accept the news that he cannot contribute to the team’s cause. Yet the squad remains confident in its depth, with belief that the group can still secure points in the forthcoming fixtures. Plans are in place to keep him closely monitored and ready for the next opportunities, underscoring the team’s commitment to full preparation for the weekend and the midweek clash that follows.
