The Ecuadorian forward Gonzalo Plata has a Grade I tear in the right adductor muscle.
Plata, the Ecuadorian striker for Real Valladolid, sustained the injury during the La Liga clash between Pucela and Athletic Club Bilbao on Matchday 26. Because of this setback, the player who started each of Valladolid’s last three games did not join Ecuador for the international window in March.
Gonzalo Plata, injured at Real Valladolid: what he has, how long he will be out and what matches he would miss
Medical bulletin confirms a Grade I muscle injury in the right adductor, and Plata will not travel with the Ecuadorian squad. He finished the game against Athletic Club with discomfort, and tests showed the adductor issue.
As a result, Plata will not participate in the March international friendlies against Australia. The plan is for him to rejoin Valladolid after the international window, with the team scheduled to visit Real Madrid for La Liga Matchday 27 shortly after the break.
Plata has been a key figure in the current Valladolid season, consistently earning starting minutes. He played full 90 minutes in Valladolid’s three most recent league appearances. The Ecuadorian arrived at the club in July 2022 from Sporting Lisbon and is contracted through 2027. During the 2022-23 La Liga campaign, he tallied four assists in 22 appearances, accumulating 1,414 minutes on the pitch for Pucela.
