The vice president of marketing and trade for the Russian Football Union, Denis Solovyov, stated that a forthcoming Russian Cup match between 2DROTS and Dynamo Kirov will take place on a floating platform off the Barents Sea coast. The remark was shared through RB Sports and adds a distinctive twist to this stage of the competition.
Solovyov described the event as a football romance on the water, a story of sport and community that transcends the usual stadium setting. He emphasized that football can flourish anywhere, even on a floating pier amid the waves, underscoring a spirit of adaptability and imagination in the game.
In the last round, 2DROTS achieved a 3–1 victory over Mur, thanks to goals from Vladislav Oslonovsky, Alexander Stepanov, and Gaucho. This win propelled the Samurai into the third round of the Russian Cup Regions’ Road. It marked a notable progression beyond their prior campaign, during which they were eliminated in penalties by Tekstilshchik from Ivanovo in the second stage of the season’s first edition of the tournament.
Earlier, an industry publication, Media Footballer of the Year, drew a comparison between the levels of coverage for media teams and professional squads, highlighting the growing attention on teams like 2DROTS and their regional companions as the cup unfolds. The Barents Sea match represents more than a logistical novelty; it signals an ongoing effort to blend sport with innovative presentation, potentially broadening audience reach and engagement for clubs across Russia’s football landscape.
